在美國紐約PlayStation Meeting活動開始前，目前關於新款PlayStation主機的消息也是不斷傳出，根據華爾街日報網站所取得消息表示，Sony將會把先前以美金3.8億元併購的GaiKai雲端遊戲技術應用在「PlayStation 4」主機。

華爾街日報引述相關消息來源表示，Sony準備發表的「PlayStation 4」主機，其中一項賣點為整合先前以美金3.8億元併購的GaiKai雲端遊戲串流技術，讓玩家可以隨時透過網路連線遊玩各類遊戲。另外除了可相容使用先前PlayStation 3遊戲外，新款主機同樣透過光碟作為遊戲內容存取媒介。

不過，目前並沒有具體消息證實Sony將如何把GaiKai雲端技術運用於新款主機，或者是相關收費模式。若此相說法屬實，或許未來將能看見透過此技術讓包含PlayStation Vita、PlayStation 3玩家也能以跨平台方式進行遊玩，而也能同時整合玩家線上社群互動機能。

而稍早也傳出「PlayStation 4」主機將採用新款控制器手把，其中整合包含觸控板與PlayStation Move功能，此外也似乎內建擴音器等功能設計。
