科技網站9to5Google.com報導，Google準備跟隨蘋果與微軟的腳步，開設連鎖零售商店，讓旗下的Nexus智慧手機與Chrome筆電，還有未來新產品，可在第一線接觸潛在消費者。

消息來源指出，Google認為現在許多消費者須親身接觸產品後，才會產生購買意願，所以打算在大型都會區開設第一批假日營業的旗艦店，「把產品送到潛在消費者的手中」，而競爭對手蘋果與微軟早已有實體店面讓消費者試用產品。

現在Google在美國消費電子賣場百思買 (Best Buy)，與英國電子賣場PC World/Dixon's都有攤位，據傳開設實體店面是為了將來的新產品「Google智慧眼鏡」鋪路，高層主管認為應先讓消費者試用，才能吸引更多不是科技狂的消費者購買，而且零售店也可展示Google X計畫的概念產品，譬如無人汽車。
