基本上，Sony應該將會在2月20日於美國紐約PlayStation Meeting活動中透露新款「PlayStation 4」主機切確消息，目前SCEA也釋出三組YouTube影片內容，主要讓玩家回顧過去PlayStation、PlayStation 2與PlayStation 3主機的精彩演進。

雖然目前並沒有官方說法明確指出美國紐約PlayStation Meeting活動將公布傳聞中的「PlayStation 4」主機，不過絕大多數的消息均指出SCEA將會在現場宣布全新主機內容，以先前PlayStation Vita選擇先在PlayStation Meeting活動公開原型設計之後，接下來也在美國E3電玩展上正式發表的情況來看，或許新積極將亮相的可能性相當高。

就稍早所傳聞內容，「PlayStation 4」主機將採用AMD 64位元處理器、整合社群應用功能與GaiKai雲端串流遊戲服務，另外也會搭配一組具備觸控板與PlayStation Move機能的全新控制手把，同時也有疑似開發機的手把外觀曝光。
